Vintage Tone subminiature camera. 16mm film, 10x14mm exposures, subminiature camera. The TONE camera was a sophisticated Hit-type camera using a 17.5mm paper backed film introduced by Toyo Kobi Optical Company in occupied Japan in 1948. Unlike other simple Hit-type cameras with afixed-focus lens and single shutter speed, the TONE camera is a full function subminiature camera with focusing lens, variable aperture, and variable shutter speed. Features both an eye-level viewfinder and a waist level viewfinder, Lens: TONE Anastigmat 1:3.5 f=25mm Focusing dial: 3ft, 10ft, infinity Close focusing: about 2 feet Aperture: /3.5, /4.5, /8, /11 Shutter: 1/25 s, 1/50 s, 1/100 s, bulb. Vintage’Tone’ miniature spy camera by Toyo in untested condition. The camera includes genuine’Tone’ leather case. This interesting camera is in very good physical condition. The camera shows minimal wear for its age. No significant pitting, discoloration, or oxidation. Chrome components are bright & shiny. The camera appears to be completely intact. The film compartment is clean and appears to be intact. The door opens & shuts smoothly. Visibility through viewfinder is fair. I didn’t see any major distortions or scratches on optics. Lens adjustments all operate, but it was hard to tell if anything was happening to the image in viewfinder. Aperture opens and shuts properly. The aperture control is a bit stiff. The camera includes the original’Tone’ leather case. Case shows a normal amount of wear (minor cracking/scuffs/etc). All hardware is intact & working (snaps/rivets/etc). Case is stamped Made in Occupied Japan. Camera body measures 2″ wide x 1.5″ deep x 1.25 tall.
