Vintage Whitaker Micro 16 Camera. These Cameras were used by Police Detectives – FBI Etc. Made in Los Angeles, California. Film Advance Works Good. Not Tested With Film. Optics need cleaning – Good light transfer but seems out of focus. The Whittaker Micro 16 was a subminiature camera for 16mm film cartridges. It was sized like a deck of cards. It was made by Wm. In Hollywood, Los Angeles, California starting in 1946. It had a built-in reflecting type viewfinder. An optional sports finder was available. Detectives liked that camera since it could be hidden in an empty cigarette wrapper. Thus it became a true detective camera since the company could sell hundreds to police stations and private detectives. Type: subminiature viewfinder camera. In Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Year of launch: 1946. Film: cartridges for double perforated 16mm film (24 exposures per cartridge). Lens: achromatic doublet f6.3 lens, focusing fixed. Vtg 1950’s HIT Subminiature Spy Camera & Film Roll made in Japan

The product is a vintage subminiature spy camera called HIT, manufactured by Tougodo Optical in Japan during the 1950s. It comes with a film roll and has a format of 14mm x 14mm. The camera measures 1 5/16″ tall, 2″ wide and is 1 5/16 from front to back. I have not tested the camera but the shutter arm works when pressed, the film advance knob works and the lenses are not broken. The back of the camera has a black vinyl decorative covering and half of that has peeled off over time. The camera comes with a roll of 14mm Kiku film. Since I’m not familiar with this type of film I’m not sure if the film has been used or not, the paper starting sleeve is around the actual film. The film for this camera produces 10 – 14mm x 14mm photos. Great for collectors, to display or it may, very possibly, be still usable.
