Vintage Early Metal Body John Player Speical Spy Camera W/ Box. The camera is in average to slightly below average condition. The body shows wear, the shutter works, and I assume the wind works. Either the latch or release to remove the camera body is broken, or I can not figure out how to open it. The release is located on the bottom to the left of the shutter and aperture dial. The John Player Special “Spy” Camera, Early. All metal enameled version 16mm film camera disguised as a package of John Player cigarettes, and the camera mechanism is a Russian Kiev 303. The metal “cigarettes” extending from the top are used to operate the camera and open the case to access the Kiev 303 body inside. There are slots for two real cigarettes to be inserted to complete the camouflage. Once marketed as a “KGB” spy camera current information suggests that these were made in Poland for the camera collector market. 17 x 13 mm. Lens: Industar-M 23mm f/3.5. Tessina Automatic 35 camera, with early serial number and patent pending. Focus appears functional, but I cannot get the camera to fire. It winds, but I only wound it slightly, since the shutter is not functioning and I didnt want to wind it to full tension. It appears slightly stuck open.
