Sub-miniature camera introduced in 1932 by the German company Fotofex, founded by Kaftanski. This was considered to be the smallest camera of its time. It takes 36 exposures in 13 x 18 mm format on Mimosa 16 mm roll film. To check that the film is advanced to the correct position for each shot, there is a red window in the rear of the camera to see the numbers on the paper-backed film. The lens is a Meyer Trioplan 25mm f 3.5 in a rim-set compur shutter that operates up to 1/300th second. Distances are in feet, and the viewfinder is the direct or Galilean type. Steineck ABC subminiature spy watch camera, c. Complete, with brown leather strap and film disk. Condition : Excellent overall, some chrome tarnishing, optics clean, shutter triggers but its operation/mechanism is not guaranteed. The Steineck ABC wrist watch camera made by Steineck Kamerawerke orignally in Tutzing and later in Papenheim. There are no watch parts or watch face and no attempt to disguise it’s form as a camera. The back does resemble a wrist watch and has standard fitments for a wrist strap. Rudolph Steineck, later associated with the Tessina and patented it; U. Patent 2,949,833, filed 1 December 1954, Twin-Lens Mirror-Reflex Camera. He lived at Via Morcucco 2, Lugano, Switzerland at the time.
