Toy Spy Camera ARROW SUBMINIATURE w Six Rolls Film & Leather Case 1950s Vintage
Vintage Arrow Miniature Spy Camera circa 1950’s from Japan. This was called a “vest pocket camera”, because it “hides int he palm of your hand”. This particular model was advertised in 1950’s comic books. All Metal Construction, has glass lens, view finder, shutter, advance film wind-up knob, and comes with a small film take up spool. It is black leatherette covered, and with the original box. Complete as shown with original box, leatherette case, and comes with a full box of six (6) rolls of film. Camera measures 1.50″ inches tall by 2″ inches wide. Unlikely that the film will be functional anymore but excellent condition for this subminiature camera. Our third Atoron spy camera, straight from 1965 with all the glamour of the Cold War still attached. Yashica made a few forays into the subminiature camera world, culminating in the Atoron – a sleek silver camera hardly bigger than a cigarette lighter that James Bond might have jingled with his loose change and stray casino chips in the pocket of his tuxedo, or which one of his female collaborators might have tucked into her garter before slipping into the study/laboratory/presidential suite to engage in some discreet photography. This one actually comes with what appears to be an unused Minox film (the type the Atoron used: note that this is marked for use by April 1969) in a sealed tin box, and a very nifty leather case for the flash gun. The leatherette pocket case with silvertone snake chain wristlet is also included. The Atoron was always a niche product, but those who used it claimed that its lens produced much sharper images than one would expect of a subminiature camera. According to one subminiature camera website, the Atoron “have a good lens and are usually to be found in working order”. This is another classic piece of mid to late 20th century technology which has been carefully stored and is clean, unmarked and quite possibly barely used. It would be marvellous either to experiment with, as part of a collection, or if you simply want to posthumously rewrite your own history: imagine the effect it would have on your kids and grandkids if, when going through all of your bits and pieces, they come across a spy camera hidden in a Cuban cigar box in the bottom drawer of your desk!
